Here is a sampling of wind arrangements from some of my marching productions:

Marching Band:

Masque

Using music from “Phantom Of The Opera” and “Repo:A Genetic Opera”, “This Masquerade” by Leon Russell, and original material, this dark-to-light production illustrates the duality of of mask.

In this clip from the opener, a woodwind feature symbolizes the fear beneath the mask juxtaposed with the bravado of the exterior: (includes percussion parts by Matt Filosa, Synced Up Designs)

Stalker: A Love Story

Charles Gounod’s “Faust”, Queen’s “Sombody To Love”, and Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” pave the way from flirtatious puppy-love to an ever so dark conclusion. Edgy? Oh yes!

This opening statement greets the audience with a bang then sets the stage for a simple yet terrifying love(?) story: (includes percussion parts by Matt Filosa, Synced Up Designs)

For Whom The Bell Tolls

The poem “No Man Is An Island” by John Donne provides the inspiration for this story about the interconnection of humanity. “Westminster Chimes”, “Shchedryk”, “Fire Of Eternal Glory”, and Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” paint the picture of one individual’s impact upon the world around him.

This production number links together elements from various source material: (includes percussion parts by Matt Filosa, Synced Up Designs)

Drum Corps:

Hell Hath No Fury

Genesis DBC’s 2016 production tells the story of a woman scorned with an eclectic selection of music from Prokofiev and Nino Rota to Alanis Morissette and Evanescence. No small tale, indeed!

This final statement from the closer ties together quotes from all the source material into a high-energy, slam-bang finish: (includes percussion parts by Brannon Baker and Matt Filosa)

The Other Side Of Now

Inspired by a political cartoon decrying the suppression of the Arts in the modern American education system in favor of conformity and standardized testing, Genesis DBC’s 2017 production weaves together music from Imogen Heap, Frank Ticheli, Metallica, Genesis (the rock band, of course), Bizet, and Joni Mitchell with the Genesis DBC corps song, “Pure Imagination” to create a tapestry that illustrates the infusion of creativity back into a sad, grey world.

The ballad . . . well, just listen: (includes percussion parts by Brannon Baker and Matt Filosa)

Maria/Stupid Girl

This is the sample opener to a show that never made it past the initial concept stage. It shuffles together “Maria” from West Side Story and “Stupid Girl” by Garbage. Some day . . .
